How ‘Free’ do you Consider Required Opt-in?
I’m sure you’re familiar with the process of exchanging an email address for the ability to download a free ebook, music file, report etc.
I’m sure this has been discussed elsewhere before, but I came to a conclusion myself not too long ago that an email address is, in a way, currency these days on the internet. With so many people all falling over themselves to make some money out of you (and why not as long as they provide value for it), we are becoming more and more jaded with the number of opt-in forms we have to fill in and even going to lengths such as setting up a special email for these subscriptions because we know that we will be getting, in some cases, bombarded with follow up emails.
I know all this because I myself have an email list or two. Admittedly I am not that busy with my list building and utilizing strategies, although I understand the benefits of having a big, targeted list in a profitable niche etc. etc. etc. The fact that I don’t devote much time to list building is because, to be frank (but not Kern) it bores the life out of me.
