Boy at Heart Musical pick-me-ups

How About a Musical Pick-Me-Up?
I am thinking about providing something for you good folks in the way of inspiration in the form of what I call Musical Pick-me-ups. Boy@Heart PMUs if you want to get all acronymic about it!

I’ve still yet to get my head around how exactly I will present this, but I can say now that it is not simply a case of me trying to flog MP3s because that is so 2005. I.E. A forgotten, insignificant memory.

The way I see it is that music, as indeed anything can do much better than that. Doesn’t anything need to have a purpose to provide any value? Now I know the value of good music (whatever you decide is good, not just what I think is good), but the current of the tidal shift in how us indies can show our music to the world (which is great) also drags along with it the inescapable fact that much of the good stuff gets lost in the noise. With a desire to reach more people so I can inspire therm, by whatever means, I have an intention that my music does provide a purpose, so I feel it is up to me to make it so!

Now i don’t expect everyone to agree with me or even see any reason why they should buy my music, but I think it is time to be a bit more imaginative than just slapping some MP3s or CDs online and begging people to buy them because "It’s great!". I have decided to apply my music for a specific purpose and see if it actually means anything to anyone and if that purpose is indeed valid.

The purpose I wish to fulfill with my music is to make you feel good. Hahaha, so original wouldn’t you say?

But that is not just it. I want you to feel good, but in a way that makes a difference to you, not just for a couple of minutes, but from now onto the next moment and so perpetuated until it has permeated every fibre of your soul and helps you feel the way you need to feel to actually achieve what you want to achieve and live a genuinely fulfilling, purposeful and happy life.

Sounds ambitious? Yes it is, but what’s the point of setting "realistic" goals? Realistic goals mean ones that you know you can do without being challenged, which means that you will probably not even notice when they have been ahieved and most likely no-one else will either. This is a great way to starve your imagination of any nutrition for coming up with more inspiring ideas as you go. Set a big goal and you will come up with bigger, better ideas along the way, taking you into new worlds that will amaze you and allow you to amaze others. Well that’s what I think anyway.

It is all about feelings. They have the power to make the changes you want. No amount of positive thinking, action plans or TO-DO lists are of any use if you can’t feel good about what you are doing, for example. So sometimes we need a pick me up: An emotional one, better than a jolt from a can of Red Bull (Where I live it’s all M-150, but it’s the same sickly poison).

The result: A musical Pick Me Up is what the world needs, so I am formulating a way to deliver that in a not-so radical way, but just enough to make an MP3 purchase make a bit more sense, until it gets shared on peer-to-peer network or something, then lets all enjoy it!

A quick shout out then to an awesome community of songwriters who make excellent music and always inspire me. It would serve you well to go and listen to some of it. FAWM 50/90 Challenge.

Musical Pick Me Ups are a work ion progress, but I would love to hear form anyone who has any ideas for how they could be presented and what they could be!

A current creation of mine and very "pick-me-up" in nature is Mind Over Matter – Heart Over Mind

HI Gail,
Thanks for the comment. It was good to see/hear you today too.
I’ll probably be putting the Musical pick-me-up idea as a freebie in the VIP area.

Glad you like the idea. I think it has potential. We shall see!
Rob
